A little floral pattern I've been working on. I love roses at the moment and they seem to be everywhere. Have a nice weekend everyone!

New fabric!

I'm really excited to see my designs turned into fabric. This floral design is from my 'Meadow Melody' line and has been licensed to a client in the US. Its being made into cute quilt covers and pillow covers. I'll post more pics of the actual fabric soon.

Pink Pink Pink yeah!

So my obsession with pink flowers continues..! Here is the start of a new textile design which will hopefully be used as wallpaper or bedding. 

Happy Colours (and defaults)

Today I thought I'd share with you a sample from part of a new textile design Im working on. Its so lovely to work with bright palettes when the world around you seems so grey! By that I mean Greece. 

Living in Greece has never been easy but for the majority its about to get a whole lot harder with the impending default on its debt. Things are so expensive here already especially when you compare to the UK it makes you wonder how much more expensive they will get. 

Also you have to consider this is a country where the average wage is about 800 Euros a month. People are starting to get very angry with the government so who knows what the next couple of months will bring. Luckily I work for foreign companies so my job is safe but I have lots of friends who really don't know what they will do if they lose there jobs. Lets all try and support Greece in this difficult time.

Sorry about the lack of blog posts lately. I've been super busy designing plus I've had loads of problems with my internet (comes with the territory living in Greece!) I've been working on a bunch of floral repeats at the mo, I've posted a little peak of a sample above.

A friend recently introduced me to pinterest.com. Its an application where you can create your own mood boards. For example you can make a mood board of different textile or of some books you want to read. I guess it's a way of organizing your creative thoughts. I'm quite new to it but i'll let you know how it goes.

Hoping for a relaxing weekend..

Happy Friday everyone. It's been a bit manic for me this week. The little one started nursery full time so she hasn't been sleeping well as she's so hyped up so I've also been feeling really knackered. On top of that I've been working non stop to get some fabric designs ready for a client. (The flower above is taken from part of one of the designs) .

Ellie will go to the in laws this weekend as it's our 6 year wedding anniversary!! That means we can relax a little. We'll go out to an Italian down the road this evening and hopefully we will catch a movie over the weekend if there is anything good on. I'm waiting for One day to come out in Greece. I've read the book and it was brilliant such a tear jerker plus Jim Sturgess is definite eye candy. I don't have any hope of The Inbetweeners being shown in Greece which is a shame as I loved the series. I'll put it on my Amazon wishlist along with Bridesmaids which was a wicked film.

Back to the drawing board with a flutter..

I'm back from my lovely holiday at the beautiful island of Lefkada. It was truly amazing we rented a beautiful villa with a pool which was ideal for my two year old daughter to swim around in. The villa was on the side of a mountain overlooking the sea with beautiful views of the coastline and the stunning sunsets. I now feel relaxed and refreshed and ready to work!

I think this design is influenced by the colorful butterflies and fauna I saw in Lefkada, it was actually the first time I ever saw a swallowtail butterfly in the wild. I have a on going love affair with butterflies and flowers, I love to draw them as they are so colorful and fun and pretty commercial too. This design will be part of a set for childrenswear.

More pretty flowers..

I know I'm a bit floral obsessed lately but I just can't resist taking photos of the beautiful flowers in my garden. I spent a lot of the time in the garden with my daughter and while she's splashing around in the paddling pool what better way to spend my time then take a few photos. You can see how my grapes are progressing in the bottom photo. Maybe I'll have enough to make a bottle of chateau Loulou!

Sketches from my garden...

So I'm back to hot sunny Greece, the land of the frappe, tzatiki and lovely beaches! My garden is looking especially lovely at the moment. Before I went to the UK I took out my sketch book and started drawing a few flowers. The jasmine leaves look and smell divine while the grapes are just starting their slow process of changing from the tiny seed to the large juicy grapes that we end up with in August, as you can see in my sketch. Maybe I'll do something with these sketches in the future..

Floral Inspiration!

At the moment I’ve been working on some floral repeats. I was really lacking inspiration so I decided to dig into my photo archives and discovered these lovelies that I took in my parents garden during the summer. I love the vivid pinks and will try to incorporate them into my designs somehow. Looking at these pics just reminds me of summers playing with my little one in the garden and drinking G and T’s (on the few days the sun is out in Britain that is!) Of course the winter is nice and cosy when you can spend evenings in front of the fire eating and drinking but I definitely prefer the Summer in Greece that’s probably why all my mates call me ‘Med girl’!
